Update: I deducted a star from my review. After about a month I like this head unit but it is too buggy. Zlink Carplay would frequently stop disconnecting, getting stuck and couldn't even connect to my iPhone X. I had to buy a dongle and use Autokit for Carplay, which works great. But there are many other bugs: the radio station changes randomly (sometimes so often that I can't even listen to the radio), the climate control keeps popping up randomly, when turning the traction control on/off it sometimes freezes or shows it at the wrong one Condition. I've already done all the updates (MCU etc.) and checked my wiring. I want these problems to be resolved. Installed in a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost Premium with Sync 2. Both systems are better than the base system or Sync 2 in my opinion. I've had a Phoenix PX6 block before so I'll do a lot of comparisons. At the time of purchase, this device was priced at $1,245 - I consider it as expected as it has many similar competitors for almost half the price. Spoiler alert: I think it's overpriced so it's going to sound pretty rude. Original: The packaging was ok, the device was safe. To be honest the box art itself feels cheap and I think Phoenix did a better job here. Note that all of the photos below have a poorly photoshopped storage area that gets uncomfortably small when setting up. The 12V socket is still available, but the flap rubs against the underside of the display frame. In the box you will find all the necessary cables and a note that the manual has been omitted for environmental reasons, and a PDF file can be downloaded to the device. It's wonderful and, frankly, commendable. Problem? Install your device to access installation instructions. Yes, it won't work if you don't already know how to install it. There were no instructions on their website at the time of writing, and when I checked, the website initially redirected to buy Windows from the Sketch website. This radio took a few hours to install. In comparison, the Phoenix unit is truly plug and play and I was able to install it in about 30 minutes over my lunch break thanks to a ton of guides and YT videos, but it doesn't offer much flexibility and doesn't have RCA outputs. Coming back to this model, it comes with tons of cables and offers exceptional flexibility (including a 6RCA output), but makes it difficult to install without a guide. What annoys me is that you can't use a factory amp and the RCA outputs at the same time. This can be a problem if you just want to add a subwoofer or run a 3.5 second amp from a Ford amp like mine. Build quality is good, with some small gaps at the very top of the device. The screen is much better than the Phoenix model (which was my main issue). This linkswell is larger, brighter, and has far better viewing angles (the Phoenix model felt like a TN panel - that's IPS). All buttons have a nice feel and the knobs are much more responsive than other Android devices - they feel OEM. It's slightly wider and hides the stitched leather surrounding the center panel. The color is dark gray rather than black, which isn't very noticeable when driving, but doesn't match the interior either. Note that the processor is not listed here. Their website says it's an octa core processor and I used that to justify the price. It's really just another six-core PX6 processor using the same hardware as its rivals. At this price I really expected the boot times to beat the 30 second boot time shared with the Phoenix device. In terms of software, this is significantly more advanced than the Phoenix model. This is a fully self-contained unit, fully exempt from Ford APIM and ACM (this is an error in the current Revain listing as it says the 'silver box' should remain ACM). While this may sound great, trust me you don't want to stay in sync and this will take care of that. On a Phoenix unit, all audio is streamed over sync as if you were connected through AUX and HVAC control can be slow/jerky. This device is much more responsive and therefore offers excellent audio and equalization quality. One downside, however, is that you'll lose Sirius XM and HDRadio (if you have one) if they get out of sync. I think the software works very well and offers a lot of customization (it's Android after all - only limited by your technical knowledge). There isn't an app to change the button LED color, but I believe installing the lamp's APK from another PX6 device will change this. Subjectively, the software could use some visual tweaks - gradients look cheap and out of place in my opinion, but other applications - HVAC controls in particular - look better here. This will also keep your heated/cooled seat functional, you just need to change the model in settings on MustangHi. Overall a good product, works well and I'm happy with it. Small blemishes, but they shouldn't be in this price range. In addition, the warranty is only 1 year, but it is difficult to predict the future of this company.
