I bought low-profile tires 18 diameter 235 \ 40. I took it, because the kontik and bears cost 10k+ per piece, and everything that was cheaper was Korea, China, etc. I took 7500 per piece. Were on two cars: 1. Passat B7 1.8tsi 2. passat CC 2.0 tdi st2 with a turbine swap removed 210hp and 420nm, acceleration was about 7 seconds to 100. For myself, I noted the following points: 1. It was on this rubber that the car did not grind when starting from the place of slippers to the floor. 2. The first season tires are relatively quiet, then the noise grows and grows 3. In St. Petersburg, it keeps along the entire WHSD at 180 km / h. In the rain up to 150 km / h, the handle is excellent, I did not check it higher. There is no skidding on any turns. 4. Hard tires. Kapets what rigid. Who likes softer - I do not recommend. 5. A set of tires bought in 2022 now has the same wear as a set of tires bought in 2022. The difference is 2 years, but the new ones quickly wore out. Why is not clear. If until last year I was satisfied with this rubber, then after buying the last two tires, my opinion has changed. On new tires in the summer of 2022 in St. Petersburg, where the heat was not more than 28-30 degrees for a couple of days, new tires even “floated” a couple of times. Literally for a fraction of a moment, but those are less for me. Conclusion - the quality has fallen. I understand that on 18m diameter and low profile, the pricing policy of manufacturers is slightly different from 16 and 17 diameter wheels. It doesn’t make sense to take r17 235 \ 45 toyo tires on my car, kontik or bears are better, the difference in price is 300r per cylinder - nothing. Think for yourself, decide for yourself: are you ready to sacrifice softness and silence for the sake of good handling and a thick side.
