I was replacing slides in a drawer in my wife's filing cabinet in her office. She teaches from home, so I had a small window of opportunity to come in and fill in. The soft close feature worked on one slide but not the other. I had to solve it manually every time. I saw a U-tube showing that the springs and piston could be removed to disable the soft close feature. So I did. But now you have to push the drawer very hard to make it close the last three inches. I worked on it for several hours and I am not satisfied with the result. A friend of mine installs tons of drawers and told me that soft close issues account for 95% of all his recalls.
