Don't waist your time using this cable for video or audio

The price was right but the signal quality and integrity suffered greatly. This review reflects my experience with this product for A/V use only.I use Cat5e, Cat 6 and Cat 7 for passing audio signal as well as video. I frequently use the exact cable specs (Cat 6, TIA 568-C) for passing audio in live sound applications as well as in my studio.I also use this cable type for passing video content (HDMI to Cat6 (send) and Cat 6 to HDMI) for video presentations as well as sending video to a program monitor for editing. For the practical video test, I was trying to pass a PowerPoint and video presentations to a 65" TV screen (pre-show test) from my MacBook Pro via 1 foot HDMI cable to a high quality HDMI to Cat6 converter, through this KabelDirekt - 25' Cat6 cable to be received by the sister Cat6 to HDMI converter, through another 1 foot HDMI and terminate at the TV.The 1st cable I tried had absolutely NO signal, so I grabbed another one (comes 5 in a box). The 2nd cable I tried, had an intermittent signal an cut out about every 3 to 8 seconds . I didn't even waste my time with the rest of them.Just to be fair and certain that the issue was not originating from another component in this set-up, I swapped out the cable for one of my own that I was using previously, with the same specs (Cat6 568-C). My cable worked perfectly!Just for curiosity (and maybe to help others reading this review), I tried this KabelDirekt - 25' Cat6 cable with my audio production (live sound) equipment. In this set-up, I used an SM58 mic into a Midas DL16 using a Mogami XLR cable. I then patched the DL16 to the Midas M32 using this KabelDirekt - 25' Cat6 cable. It was definitely sending a signal, however many channels were experiencing intermittent drops of up to 12db at times. Once again I cross referenced/compares using the same working cable I own (same one I used in the video test) and everything once again worked as expected.Full disclosure: I normally use a professional, shielded ethercon cable when doing live sound but I KNOW that these regular Cat6 568-C cables work flawlessly in audio productions. I use them all of the time in the studio for the P16 personal monitoring systems.I did not try this cable for regular internet/network applications however, I suspect I would experience similar issues . signal integrity is signal integrity. You just can't candy coat it, it just IS WHAT IT IS!Hope this review helps some people.

Pros
  • Well constructed and my transfer rates are improved over the Cat5 I was using.
Cons
  • May not work well in high-traffic environments

Needed quite a few for the workplace and home...wanted to pick up a little speed for both merchant processing and gaming at home since we upgraded fiber at both places. Haven''t noticed much in processing transactions, but was never really slow to begin with...did see a small improvement in online gaming (don''t really play anything with high demands, also probably need to upgrade my ethernet card). Cords are sturdy, connectors are great. I would definitely buy again when needed.
