Please understand that this product is very time-consuming!

So I first started using this product with the intention of making a cast of 2 inch ear probes for resin modeling. And I have to say that I really didn't like this product for that. Not only is this stuff messy and smells VERY strongly of ammonia, it is also very time consuming. I would not recommend using this without the proper protective gear (gloves, eye protection and dust mask). I was about to try this stuff for the first time. I did my research and followed the instructions. It took a few tries to make a decent shape, and even after THAT number of layers, the best shape is still very flimsy. I tried three more times to do a fairly strong form. I even used talcum powder and a heat gun to speed up the process as many of the application videos show and although it hardened the mold the mold was still very flimsy and took most of my day. Overall, the end product was a thin mold that deformed too easily to be filled with resin. Obviously this stuff takes a lot of practice to get the shape you want. You can get better results with this if you have time and patience, but it didn't work for me. Of all the shapers I've tried, this one was my least favorite. It took me far too much time than it was worth. I think I'll stick with a silicone mold for making liquid rubber for now. In general, it's easier to use, doesn't take as much time, and heals more powerfully. Better for me personally.

Pros
  • Modeling Supplies
Cons
  • Out of fashion
