Hard To Install Without Lubricant

I've installed two of these at different times on two different doors. The first installation was a nightmare. It required two people and Herculean strength to pull the weather strip through the aluminum bottom door channel. The first one took about 30 minutes because half way through the gasket came out of the channel and had to be removed and started over. I eventually used some dish soap to make it easier but that didnt work very well. The second installation took only 5 minutes after some prep work. Here are the tips:1) Thouroghly clean the inside of the aluminum track. I used compressed air.2) Check the ends of the aluminum channel to make sure that the ends aren't bent in. I used to screwdriver to actually bend them out slightly to make the weather strip entry easier.3) Lubricate the channel with a water based lubricant. Dish soap didn't work very well, because of its thin viscosity it basically dripped out on to the floor. I used electrical wire pulling lubricant (can buy here on Best Buy) which is thick and stayed within the groove of the channel. Don't be shy about using it run a thick bead of the lube from end to end in both channel grooves.4) Use two people, one to hold the weather strip straight and to guide it into the channel and the other to pull it in. Should take less than 5 minutes. On other caveat, we did have a problem with the weather strip pulling out when during the winter after it rained the temperature dropped and the weather strip froze to the floor. When the door opened it partially pulled out the weather strip.

Pros
  • ‎No
Cons

you will need someone else to assist with a pull. I found myself adding wd40 every few feet to assist with the slide.
