I've used this on a couple of personal knives and a few in a commercial kitchen, about 10 in all. It's very effective but as you'd expect it's time consuming. The main problem is that the lowest grit is not low enough to correct real imperfections in the knife blade. If you have blades that need a proper sharpening, start with something more abrasive first and then move on to finer sharpening. In addition, all stones already have clear signs of wear. It probably won't be of any use until the surface yields so excessively that it's no longer productive/effective. The corners of the stones snapped off from pressure when trying to use the entire surface to prevent only the center from being worn away.
