I would just like to start off by saying that I am an experienced fish breeder and that the fish farming hobby is by no means new to me. What, as they say; I bought this product to solve an algae problem I was having in one of my aquariums. I've had this particular tank for a year now and all of its inhabitants are original fish that I bought when I set up the tank which has kept everyone happy and healthy and I've literally never had a disease problem. etc. (excluding occasional algal blooms). This aquarium contains 7 neon tetras, 1 measles cat, 1 crowntail rooster, 2 adult mollies and about 20 juvenile fish (about 4 months old, large and healthy and about to be transferred to another aquarium). The product has arrived. I have read the directions carefully and made sure the label states this product is safe for fish and plants. I also looked at the label to see if there were any specific fish species on the list that did not tolerate the treatment and none of them were listed. On Saturday morning I did a water change in all of my tanks and treated this particular tank at the correct dose for my tank size as per the label. I spent the day running errands with my family, and later that night I turned off all the aquarium lights for the night (not paying too much attention to the fish). I woke up Sunday morning and turned on the light in my tank and all the mollies in my tank were dead. And adults and ALL my youngsters it was awful! I spent my morning catching dead fish from the tank before my 3 year old could get up and see what had happened. My tetras were lethargic and my measles barely moved (the only fish that didn't seem injured was a rooster). I thought I lost them all, just turned off the light in the tank and left the tank alone. Monday came and my tetras were perfectly clear but still alive so I did a 98% water change and by Tuesday the tetras were back in color but my measles cat was dead. Today the tetras are almost completely back to normal (except for one probably dying) and my rooster is fine. This product has gotten some good reviews here and I like to think that I am an informed shopper when purchasing products. for my pets but this is the WORST purchase I have ever made. I would give -5 stars if I could. I did some research on the product after the disaster and it turned out I wasn't the only one this happened to. This is the second review I've ever left, but I want to take the time to share my experience with this product and encourage you to drop it and keep looking. I feel like if only one person has had this experience with this product (and I know I'm not the only one) it's not worth the risk of putting it in your tank so hit the back- button and find something else for you seaweed. problem because it is not!
