I almost didn't buy this item due to the many negative comments I read here on Amazon regarding the quality of the products (which is very important to me). Luckily, I decided to take a chance and place the order anyway, mainly because of the incredibly low price, but also because I just loved the look of the tournament-style Staunton chess pieces that came with this set. (Take a close look at some of the other travel sets you can find online. Those pieces don't look right.) Honestly, I don't know what some of those negative reviewers were expecting for only $11! (At least that's what I paid for) For the quality of the board/parts you get, this is an amazing purchase! Not to mention the added bonus of a portable magnetic travel kit! (And it's not too small like many other kits I've seen!) Which brings me to the next thing I love about this product: the parts you get are not only strong and very pretty, they have a good size too! The main reason for my purchase was to have a set that I can take to work and challenge my friends - if the pieces were too small nobody would want to play a serious game with me (or even take me seriously). !) Let's get back to the price. 11 dollars folks! Again, I don't know what some of those negative reviewers were expecting for this price! Think about it; Even if you could find something similar in an outlet (which I didn't), believe me you'd pay a lot more! The quality of the circuit boards and parts is simply outstanding! Very solid look and feel. It doesn't look cheap! Also, the products aren't "too light" as I've read in some reviews. not at all! Their weight is reasonable to match their size and portability, and they definitely feel solid in your hand. As I mentioned, the parts themselves look Tournament (Staunton) style, unlike many other street kits I've owned. seen on the web. You usually pay a little more for such pretty things. The board is also quite durable and closes well; convenient to place all parts in it. I will do my best to describe the reality of what you will receive when your package arrives to help someone out there who is on the fence just like me not to miss this great chess game! I love chess and I love good chess. In my life I've bought about 30-40 different chess sets of different sizes and qualities and this one right up there with my favourites! Please do not hesitate to order this product based on some of these erroneous and misleading reviews that have been published. Trust me you won't be disappointed. The ONLY thing I would say could improve this product if it included 2 extra queens to promote a pawn. But then again, since I only paid $11, I wasn't expecting something like this. If I really had to carry an extra queen in the box I would just order another set! At this price it's worth it! (Let me repeat: it's only $11 folks!)
