I recently inherited my father's house and brought my old Arris router/modem with me when I moved. I was starting to have problems with my internet so I bought this combo box hoping it would fix what was bothering me. I tried to install it but someone had previously bought it and reset the password to something other than the default password and I couldn't connect. So I asked the cable company to check my lines and it turned out that my dad had too many connections from the wall outlet which is why I lost the internet signal. The good guy fixed it and then noticed that my router/modem couldn't deliver the speed I paid for. So I showed him the device and explained the problem with the password. Sigh. He stuck a paper clip in the hole in the back of the damn thing and it reset to default. I felt so stupid, but I was so glad I didn't start the return process. He was kind enough to set it up for me and it was very quick and easy. He literally plugged it in, plugged in the cord, called the home office and read the serial number on the back of the machine and I was in business. I went from max 150-200Mbps to OVER 480Mbps. That's awesome! And the modem is so easy to use and maintain. When you sign in for the first time, you will be prompted to ask questions to reset your password. Other than that, you don't have to do anything to start using it right away. I'm so glad I spent the extra money and bought this one. The app is also very easy to use. Overall this is a great purchase!
