Since I retired Since I retired I've been looking for the best, lightest and fastest cup of coffee. After trying several coffee maker gadgets, I was convinced (at least to myself) that the old standard Mr. Coffee is the workhorse for my early daily brew. But for those nights when I need to cheer up and a cup isn't enough and a whole can is too much, I had high hopes for this brewer. My first problem was right out of the box. It is very difficult to remove the screen/filter for cleaning. It finally popped out after a few minutes, but I can't imagine it holding up to the aggressive handling that daily removal requires. My next problem was the brewing time. For some reason it took forever and was never completely empty the first time I used it. The next day, with the same coffee, he was more exhausted and fuller. I'm sure it's my fault but I can't figure out why. When I cleaned it, the lid came off. The hinge on the lid is made of plastic. I would say a metal pin would be a better design. The coffee was good but (in my opinion) no better than a French press. A French press is easier to clean and mine is in an insulated pot so it stays hotter longer. I hope this thing grows on me, but I don't think I can recommend it anymore.
