I bought this whistle to distract my dogs, to stop unnecessary barking. So far it seems to be working fine. First, I tuned the whistle to the square that caught her attention the quickest. The neighbor knocked on my door 3 times (about 5 minutes apart) to check the results. She knocked for the first time and the boys barked. I blew the whistle and immediately said "don't bark" in a calm voice. They looked at me and immediately stopped barking. When she knocked a second time, only one of my two little dogs made a tiny "boo-wow", the other boy was silent. I blew the whistle again and gave the same command, it was silent. After the third knock I just said not to bark, neither of them made a sound. I gave everyone a treat and complimented them for being good boys. I'm sure my boys will need reminders over the next few days and that's to be expected. Helping our furry kids learn (as well as the non-furry ones) takes patience and persistence. The pipe itself is good and the lock nut stays in place securely. I like the cute dog band. That's great. I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this whistle to anyone who has a dog that likes to bark a little more or is a little louder than they should.
