ORICO USB 3.0 HUB, Monitor-Edge and Desk-Edge USB 3.0 4-Port Clip-Type Hub

This functional device is probably best used as a portable option. The supplied USB 3 data cable is of very high quality and well insulated. Micro USB power cable and power adapter are not included. The unit I received powered two WD Elements 4TB USB 3.0 drives without an additional power supply. Since iMac late December 2015 (maximum spec), I'm running a Time Machine backup on one drive and a CCcloner file transfer on the other at the same time. Both were several hundred MB of various media files, mostly music, the Time Machine backup was slightly larger. I made this type of transfer three times in two days. I didn't compare gears. Despite this, simulcasts were successful without additional power supply. This is an anecdotal test of functionality. I haven't tested long transfers. Personally I wouldn't use this for a permanent USB solution, but I suppose you can. I prefer a dedicated bracket or an industrial-grade rackmount USB drive for permanent hubs. Width x depth of mounting jaw - (overall length of product is 3.5") 1.25" x 3/8" - with thumbscrew . Being able to mount these devices is a great concept, but a bit tricky to implement. The depth of the groove or jaw is shallow, only 1 cm or about 3/8 inch. The maximum width with rubber end cap with thumbscrew is 1.25 inch. Removing the threaded end cap gives a very narrow 1.5 inch width. Given the small depth of 1 cm, this is not a very stable and reliable mounting option. It does not offer a firm bite. Using a permanent screw instead of a rubber end cap and thumb screw leaves only 3/16 to 1/8 inch to work with. The jaw is pure metal, aluminum, with no polymer or rubber seal. Whether an end cap is used or not, the shallow jaw depth prevents a hard bite and ensures a secure, tight fit. A 2 cm or 2.54 cm (1 inch) gripping depth provides a more secure and stable attachment. An adjustable sliding mount or flange instead of a rubber end cap would probably be better. This is a good device, minus one star for the shallow detection depth. Costs money. The sturdy aluminum body and micro-USB power connector are undeniable advantages (it's better to use USB-C). I can buy another one. It fits in one of my computer bags or backpacks, maybe with a second one in my car or truck.
