Did an 18 hour one way cross country drive with this unit mounted on the roof of our minivan. It literally rained for about an hour of driving. And by rain I mean downpour! Incidentally, we had to move out several times due to poor visibility. I was sure that everything would get wet when we arrived. Due to bad experiences with other roof racks in the past, we packed everything in black garbage bags. When we got to our destination and opened it, there wasn't a drop of water! I was totally shocked and very impressed! We reattached it before returning home and it worked perfectly. I don't know if that was necessary, but we put a mesh pad (the kind you put under floor mats) under the topper before buckled it on. He stayed in place the entire trip. We recommend this topper unreservedly.
