Review on Sony DVP-NS715P DVD Player with Progressive-Scan Technology by John Anaya

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great replacement

This is my third Sony DVD player which I have bought to replace a poorly chosen Phillips DVD621 (see related review). As usual with previous Sony purchases, the (S550D, S330) NS715P continues to meet my needs. The 715 has new features, the strongest of which is progressive scan. If this is your first purchase, this might be the best choice you can make in this price range. A variety of features let you customize playback for virtually any home theater. Expect ease of use from both the on-screen display and the remote control. Fast seek and launch times will satisfy the most impatient of us. The only general complaint I have relates to the 5.1 crowd, as the 715 lacks a 5-channel output connection. But since I personally left 5.1 to the optics, there is only one criticism that it does not come in a black housing. This is a fantastic device at a great price and I would recommend the NS715P to anyone.

Pros
