Review on 🚽 Moen Stainless Steel 24-Inch Bathroom Grab Bar (Model 8724) by Jerry Peebler

Very pleased with this bar

I have installed four of these bars in two bathrooms. They definitely add some level of security, especially for the elderly. Installation was pretty easy for me because I have the experience and tools for this type of project. Less equipped and experienced folks who aren't handy may need help, particularly with laying over tile, but just about any DIY enthusiast should be able to handle this for those who have one. I like the 1-1/2" bar size. The shank isn't knurled. It's smooth, but just enough for me. I didn't use the screws that came with it because pan head screws don't need to be capped and the tiny cross heads come on can't take much pressure on the ones supplied without stripping them. Hex head screws or screws that require square or torx drivers will work with big enough heads though. The ones that come are 2" long. I have some 2" and some 2-1/2" " used, depending on the thickness of the tile or other wall material. I suggest having a stud finder, a drill with various bits, a hammer drill and concrete drill bits, a spirit level and a pencil to mark where the hidden studs are Unfortunately, most designs in the US have lugs on 16" centers, and those 24" bars have to be vertical on a lug, or at an angle between two mo nted unless they are installed on a drywall and fastened to a connecting board three pins. Think for yourself, but paying $116 for a Revain installer is stupid to me!
