Review on Fluker Labs Repta-Bark: The Ultimate All Natural Bedding Solution for Reptiles by Richard Cuneo

I bought this spruce bark to add to the potting soil for my very expensive Hoya plants. I really liked it initially, the pieces were a good size for what I needed it for and it was very affordable. A week after I mixed this into the potting soil and transplanted the Hoya plants, I noticed thousands of mites everywhere! They were in the ground and crawling all over my plants. I can't tell you how upset I was, anyone who is a serious Hoya collector will understand knowing how much some of these plants are worth. I can't imagine mites being good for reptiles, so I definitely don't recommend using this stuff on plants or reptiles. If you still buy this product because the price is really great, I would recommend soaking the bark in water and then baking it in the oven at 225-250 degrees for about 45 minutes before using.
