Short, "yes", but cuts through bricks as well as blocks. I didn't even have to use a center drill. I just treated it like a regular drill. (high speed, very light pressure until I got my first circle) I even used a cordless M12 Milwaukee to drill through the brick. (A fully charged 6Ah battery is totally drained) I have a monster SDS but I just didn't want to take the thing out. Switched to a cheap Harbor Freight 1/2" 120v drill bit to finish the block. I really like this stuff! $14? I think I might need to buy more. the notion that it might not be that easy .But a brick and log wall (and a 2" diameter) wasn't a problem. I installed an M12 and a HF drill bit on the hammer, but I'm not sure if that was really necessary. The "teeth" " of the drill seem good for re-drilling, just as they did when I started. On regular brick and log walls, it's "different!" I almost bought a Bosch, glad I didn't now. But I really didn't expect this cheap part to cut like that. Oh since I didn't see the 2 1/4" for the order I also used it to enlarge the hole an extra 1/4" after I cut out the main hole.It only took a few seconds to cut the edge 1" to about 1 inch deep for the LB box to cut. Again, hard to believe given the price. Your "mileage" may vary, but I couldn't be happier or more surprised.
