Good colors but mold problems make using this paint troublesome

I ordered these paints for use at home and in the community center art class. Most colors have a pleasant color; however, some face difficulties. After a day without a tube, I noticed that the pigments and materials in the green juice were beginning to separate. They come back together after vigorous brushing, but this makes it difficult to see the true color right away. After a few months I noticed mold growth in pale green, lush green, lemon yellow, gamboge, orange yellow and ocher yellow. I've never had mold in my house, I did a little research online and contacted Royal & Langnickel (they don't have an answer yet). It seems that most paints contain chemicals to prevent mold. I usually dampen my palette with water before closing the lid to keep the colors moist. Now I leave the lid open and let the paint dry completely before closing the lid. This is inconvenient for me because I now have to use lots of water and lots of mixing to reactivate the colors and get them ready to use again. I don't have much time to draw, so every minute I have is precious. I prefer painting to working on the technical aspects of my paint. Luckily I didn't see mold on my paintings. Had I known about the mold issues and the need for the paint to fully dry I would have chosen a different brand. The colors are nice enough, though, and for $25 you get a lot of color.

Pros
  • Painting
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Nice colors but issues with mold make this paint time-consuming
