can store a lot, but is not waterproof

We used this for a cross country trip and I loved how we could stuff a bunch of stuff in like sleeping bags, tents, panniers and the like and free up space in the SUV. This definitely works better when you have smaller soft items that you can use to fill the space and slope at the top of the front as much as possible, rather than having fewer larger items. During the drive we encountered three downpours, two of them. long and heavy, and after the first we learned that everything was wet downstairs, but not otherwise. We then used a tarp on the interior floor and wrapped it over the items which kept our stuff dry for a later downpour, but as you can see in the picture it looked like this after the interior floor of the transport last storm. the water gets in somehow. Also note how the front flap seam is torn about halfway down the center; I wish they had strong velcro on that part of the front flap, like the sides and back of the bag so it doesn't lift up due to wind resistance while riding. (wet) Verdict: For the price, and for those who only need extra carrying space for the occasional outing, I think it's fine if you protect items inside with a tarp or store items in plastic bags. If you use it frequently I would look for another soft case that is stronger, or spend the extra money for a hard case that is also easier to access than soft cases that require you to undo a few straps and unzip it then to get the items.
