I thought I would buy the big ones but that's my fault - I know there are different sizes, I just wasn't paying attention. They still work well for small projects or retouching. Flexible for repeated use, yet tough enough for surface work - many uses for these little fins! As for my beginner rating, my teacher tries to teach beginners how to use the ribs, but I had to start feeling the clay on me and get to the ribs. Your mileage may vary.
