I actually ordered two of these (one by mistake). And both came under the conditions that others have mentioned, where the ruler is covered in some kind of mottled film. They're still sharp, but it certainly clouds the view through the ruler. It wasn't a deal breaker and I kept using the rulers. Up until a few weeks after light use (measuring various objects in a physics lab that didn't use chemicals, mind you), the sides started cracking in places big and small. Since I was using a ruler to draw a straight line this forced me to throw out this piece of junk as I was now encountering large bumps on the sides of the ruler as I drew irregular straight lines and made tracing as painful as I did it was constantly hitting walls with my pen in a sensation. The only reason I didn't get that one star is because it can still be used to measure things, although the visibility is better in some places than others. I would not buy again and do not recommend anyone to buy this line.
