The pockets are divided at the bottom seam.
I use 3mm contractor bags from local hardware stores and have had no trouble picking up dirt from the bin. I needed more space between bag changes so I ordered these bags at a higher price. Both pockets are less than 1/4 apart at the bottom seam for very light weight. They are not stitched very well and have very little actual "welded" material. I wouldn't recommend these for use with a dust bag and having already had 2 ejections I won't try the next 8 as cleaning up after a bag break can be a real pain.
