Review on Canson 180 Degree Art Book Paper Pad, Hardcover, 5.5 x 8.5 Inches, 80 Pages by Sasha Hsiao

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful in every way; Paper amazingly thin

This is a beautiful book; I love the binding, the cover and the magnetic tape. The paper is slightly off-white, smooth, with a very light texture (I agree with the "fine tooth" in the description), takes ink and pencil well. Unfortunately, the binding is very firm (therefore the pages are not quite straight); I hope it loosens up over time. The big stumbling block for me is that the paper itself is so thin that a regular pencil shows through (it doesn't bulge all the way out but is clearly visible). It sells for £65, but it's significantly closer to £65 text than the cover art. I feel like the only way to use this to create archival art (which the description/packaging really relies on) is via alternate spreads, reducing the usable ones. sides halved. I won't fret until I count the number of usable pages versus "sold as pages" but if you use all pages and have to worry about phantoms, be aware. I would pay more for thicker paper, but I most likely won't repurchase - it looks like practice paper with a very fancy binding. On the other hand, if that's what you're looking for (very well protected and high quality practice paper) and you don't mind paying a little more, I don't think you can go wrong with this one.
