Review on Samsung BAR Plus 64GB Champagne by Stanislaw Gluszek ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am one hundred percent satisfied with the purchase, I recommend this product to everyone.

- I took the Samsung USB3.1 256GB MUF-256BE3/APC option (Champagne Silver color) for 3290 (03/02/2023). - Immediately formatted with standard settings (fs exFAT). - By the way, I noticed a nice moment during formatting. I formatted it almost simultaneously with another flash drive (UFD 3.2 Gen.2 SmartBuy 256GB M5 Dual Type-C / Type-A), which seemed to have better characteristics. Same size, same formatting options. I started formatting another flash drive a couple of minutes earlier. The Samsung flash drive ended up being formatted earlier. And quite a bit earlier. The other flash drive still had about 1/5 of it left, looking at the progress bar. Samsung was formatted evenly, and the 2nd flash drive could be seen as up to about 35-45% "flew away" and was far ahead of Samsung, but then it began to "deflate" after half and in the end it went very slowly. Foolish people will understand what's going on here. - I didn’t add the price to the minus, because relative to other flash drives at the time of ordering, it is almost comparable, and besides, this is Samsung after all. And I will not compare with external HDD / SSD, because. it was portability/ergonomics that was important. - I don’t see the point in putting 4 yet, because all the pros outweigh the cons. The cons are very minor so far.

Pros
  • - Beautiful design. I like how it looks. Like a piece of metal. Interesting shape. - Practical construction and design. The size is good. Not super small, like flash drives like bluetooth adapters. Not big, as there are "classic" flash drives, and even more so some external HDDs. Monolithic, no moving parts. Protective, if you believe the description (waterproof, heat-resistant, shock-resistant, even magnetic-resistant and X-ray resistant . even from radiation, viruses and zombies - it would be great). Thanks to the protruding shape with a hole, it is very convenient to pull out a flash drive, unlike many other less convenient options when it slips or, in principle, is not convenient to pick up. And this asymmetric shape along the horizontal plane is convenient because it is easy to determine the "top" of the flash drive and you can quickly get used to sticking it into the usual connectors the first time. - Good technical characteristics, which practically correspond to the declared ones. Good speed, up to 400 MB/s. As usual for Samsung, good stable performance of the memory controllers. At least on the first day. Let's see how long it lasts, if there are no defects, then it should last a long time.
Cons
  • - Very strange cover. I don't know what it is, but it's terrible. Falls off twice. A couple of times I stuck it into a completely normal nest, and there are already stripes, as if I’ve been pulling and inserting back and forth for a couple of months without stopping. Although, I have already used this socket many times on other different flash drives and cables, but I did not notice this on metal. I tried to take a picture for an example with a cable that I have had for a couple of years. Although I don’t often insert this cable into this socket, it’s usually plugged into a smartphone charger, but it happened from time to time, I inserted it more than a hundred times. In addition, this cable has been connected more than once in many places. But it is practically invisible at all, if only to look closely, almost like new. And on the flash drive there is clearly some kind of coating. But why? It's still metal. Why cover some dumb metallic on metal? Strange thing. - There are a couple of small, not so significant defects on the surface. Firstly, where the eye/hole for the rope is not a very good surface finish, small "notches" are visible, like a seam between 2 parts. Apparently, a hard-to-reach place for processing / polishing. All the same, the detail is small and it really looks difficult. Although, then it is not clear why in this place, the seam could be made in another place, if at all it is a seam. If not a seam, then it is not clear what it is. OK. In principle, if you do not look in front of your eyes point-blank, then you can’t see it. Where the brand name "SAMSUNG" is inscribed, one stripe in the 'A' has a slightly different texture and is very different in some lighting. Not sure if this is by design or if it's a bug. But it catches the eye. Okay, this is quite nitpicking.
