Review on 800 Lumens Rechargeable COB Small Flashlights with Folding Bracket, Bottle Opener, and Magnet Base – Portable Pocket Light for Fishing, Walking, and Camping by Charles Palma

Nice nice little flashlight to add to my embarrassingly large collection of flashlights

Works great, build quality is satisfactory. I didn't burn the entire battery, mostly because I avoid deep cycle lithium batteries whenever possible. Most of the time I have lamps more appropriate than any situation I can use them in, but I don't carry them on my belt. the whole time. This is attached to a belt loop and is almost invisible due to the profile. It has FOUR modes of operation, not three; in order of command, medium, low and 4 Hz strobe. The mid/low average PWM current is reduced while you can activate "full phase mode" by pressing and holding the button for 2-3 seconds. It's not much brighter and the light heats up very quickly if you're using it at 100% duty cycle. This shouldn't damage the LED block but can easily damage the battery as there is little to no temperature control. But it's ok, since it's a small, versatile flashlight, you just have to understand the tool. The USB-C charging interface is convenient, nothing special as it will be the 'golden' USB standard to evolve for a number of reasons. BUT. This device has a deep recessed jack which means you cannot use any cable with it. I only have three or four (out of literally hundreds of USB cables, I'm EE/EE) Type-C cables that actually charge this, including the one that comes with it. But as long as you have it, it's nothing special; It's not a high drain charge cycle or anything like that. It's not super fancy, but it does the job. Fahrrad fahren. DO NOT set this to MED PWM or full phase and let it boil or you will inevitably break something (well, hopefully the little battery will get low enough to turn it off, but I don't know if it even has one). . voltage shutdown as it should). Running this in LOW PWM mode indefinitely will also likely generate a lot of heat, but you'll have some time for that. (I didn't want to damage the print on this unit, otherwise I would have reported the actual phase mode frequencies via the oscilloscope. I also couldn't find my optical meter for this check; best guess, and they're probably marginal. At best, MED phase is approx 80% DC, LOW about 60% There's also decent load capacitance, meaning the on/off transition between relative no load and full drive has a noticeable slope, which is probably why the actual load cycle is so high; if this capacitance is reduced, a shorter transient voltage gives a much more accurate output, but that's probably the way to deal with spikes, I don't know how it's specifically controlled, but even a small H-factor doesn't bridge that may damage the LEDs and other components, no problem.)

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
