I found the shoes! Every runner is looking for their Sole Mate shoe and I've found mine. I discovered the Saucony Kids Cohesion with Velcro and elastic lace closure a few years ago and have bought several pairs over the past three to four years. At first I bought wide ones but then I bought additional wide ones which made my odd shaped feet very happy. But this year the only XW shoes I could find were the Cohesion Big Kids 4 XW without laces but with two strong Velcro straps. , so I like the buckle straps. But while I was skeptical about laceless, strap-only running shoes (because what if the Velcro fails during the half marathon or the full marathon?), I decided I'd live on the edge and give it a try. When these little guys arrived on Friday, I put on the Ariat insoles and ran 12 miles. The straps held and whenever I needed to adjust my shoes, all I had to do was tug on the strap and away I was! And yesterday I ran my first 20 mile run of the season in these shoes! Another great thing about the strap-only closure is that when I had to bandage a blister I had from another pair of shoes, I didn't even have to sit down to open my shoes. This shoe is also great for people who have limited use of both hands.
