Easy to do, but fold the washcloth and tuck into the empty space in the tailgate so you don't lose one of the bar clips forever.

After removing the plastic trim on the tailgate with a thin spatula and three screws, the lock handle became accessible. Insert the new plastic clips into the locking frame before inserting the angle bar. Less difficult than it looks.

Worked great on my 1999 GMC Sierra. The OEM clamps lasted 23 years and if these (3 packs) last half that my truck will last another 30+ years! Very easy to install, just watch some videos online how to remove the plastic cover and what color clips are left and right (red left, green right).

Took 15 minutes. Remove the bottom screw from 3 in the tailgate. Pry off the latch cover - I used a thin spatula. Throw away the old clips. Insert the new clips into the holes THEN insert the rod into the hole in the clip THEN rotate the clip to the locked position. Do not drop the clip in the trunk. Although there are 3 pieces.
