Great for straining yogurt

We started making yogurt at home and were tired of straining excess whey through cheesecloth. It's the perfect size for sifting yogurt and cleaning is easy. I just wish there was a smaller amount to purchase but I think we're set for a while.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No productivity

Making Life A Little Easier

Use these filters to make weekly batches of iced coffee and bi-monthly batches of Greek yogurt. The groom loves a cold drink and the dogs love yogurt so each have their own reasons for keeping me longer which of course makes me really happy with these filters.

Pros
  • Here's a Thing
Cons
  • Minor Trouble

Great product for straining yogurt.

it's great. I bought them to strain yogurt. I use milk a gallon at a time and strain it into two strainers with these coffee filters. They easily hold a half gallon with space, and they filter yogurt into Greek yogurt perfectly. They are easier to use than gauze and ten times easier to clean than disposables.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • something different

Mom is making yogurt today!

I ordered these for my mum who makes her own yogurt at home. The problem was straining the yogurt afterwards to make it thicker (she uses whey in cooking so it doesn't go to waste). These filters were just what she needed, although she double-layers them. She makes a batch at least once a week so with so many filters she has plenty for herself, and she shared some with friends who are testing out making their own yogurt.

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and shelf life
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Works for draining homemade yogurt to make Greek yogurt.

They go perfectly with my most common colander. In the evening I make yogurt in a slow cooker. In the morning I turn it in a colander with two filters placed in a large bowl to catch the whey. It is placed in the refrigerator for several hours to drain. If I used 2 filters together it would be easy for me to slide my hands under and around to pour the yogurt into the Rubbermaid container. Only one breaks. Two still merge well. That's a huge package! i will not go out I can share them when I…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Great for straining homemade greek yogurt

I've never had coffee in my life (and I'm old already!) but have recently started making my own greek yogurt at home to manufacture. Sifting yogurt through cheesecloth was messy, expensive, and more of a hassle than I wanted to. Someone suggested coffee filters. After the first one broke when saturated and I was trying to lift a large batch of yogurt, I set up a strainer with gauze as a hammock/sling to lift the coffee filter. Thickened yoghurt does not stick to the filter. It peels off like a…

Pros
  • Useful for more than its intended purpose
