Better than not working. But not as bright as it could be.

Seems to be working reasonably well. It's definitely not a perfect replacement for the original, the brightness is a bit dim on the sides and it's a bit thin for a 4mm card, but it's better than what the fiber has become after a year of using the card. I wish it was a little cheaper, if it's less than 3 feet I can only get a 1.5 spare and I thought the description said 3 feet. I would have ordered a larger pack if I had known, but that's my fault and not reflected in the review.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Modern

Perfect GPU lighting solution

I have an Asus ROG Strix rx480 that only lights up on one end after about a year of mining. It turned out that the fiber in the housing had burned so badly after prolonged exposure to high temperatures that it could no longer carry the light very far. It was the perfect solution. The 4mm (0.16") diameter was perfect, and forget what they say about "no side glow"; maybe in broad daylight the sides don't glow, but inside a computer case it's very glowing the whole length nice One of the easiest…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • For the old one

Weak sideglow and bad packaging

Sideglow effect is weak. Most of the light gets to the other end of the cable (end glow). When illuminated with a pure white LED, the side glow is blue instead of white (see figure). Instead of coiling the cord for shipping, the seller fanned it out (like the letter "W") and stuffed it into an undersized envelope. As a result, the inner fibers became twisted and damaged, resulting in multiple areas of uneven glow (indicated by red arrows in image). The cable I received was useless for side…

Pros
  • Keeping my fists

  • boring packaging

Do you have a Strix card? You need that.

The title speaks for itself. I have a Strix 1080 card which, like any other Strix card, quickly loses visual appeal. The LED parts started to dim and eventually I lost 3 light windows between the top and bottom rails (the original fiber fogged up like all other competitors). The .16" cable fits perfectly and cuts cleanly with a razor blade. The actual replacement is as simple as removing a total of 6 screws (take a quick look at the card and you'll understand, or use the video Tutorial). tl;dr…

Pros
  • Large range
Cons
  • Working speed

Asus Strix graphics card owners NEED this!

Like many others, my Asus Strix graphics card's OEM optical cables have fogged up and no longer illuminate the center left side of my GPU. For aesthetic reasons I mounted my GPU vertically in the case as my O11D is wide enough not to create cooling obstructions like older thinner cases do. My graphics card is Asus Strix OC 2080Ti. I didn't want to bother getting that RMA and would still have to use the video if I send it in (no I won't be using my integrated graphics as I want to play my games…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Appearance

I have several Nvidia GPUs at home ranging from 1080tis, 2080tis and 3080/3090. They are all from different manufacturers, Asus, Zotac, MSI etc. All RGB GPUs seem to use the same type of fiber optic cable that 'carries' the LED lighting on top of the GPU card. This fiber optic cable turns milky white over time and does not allow the colors of the LEDs to show through. lover of random things. It looks like the LEDs on your GPU are going out. In one of my photos you can see that the PC has a GPU…

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • are unreliable
