Turn the filter over after charging.

To be honest I haven't driven my Toyota Tundra since the filter was installed. I think K&N is a very good filter. It's my personal opinion. The problem is that most don't have the patience to let the excess charge wear off when it comes time to clean and charge. Overcharging can affect the mass air flow sensor and cause an indicator light to illuminate on the dashboard. In my opinion, after charging, the filter should be turned upside down. This causes extra charge to drip off the top of the…

Great improvement in throttle response

I installed a throttle position sensor on a 2012 Tundra but at times my truck was still a little sluggish when trying to keep up under acceleration. After installing the K&N filter, this problem was resolved. Now it's gas on demand, this filter was the finishing touch I was looking for. I didn't have it long enough to see a change in gas mileage, but I did notice a definite increase in throttle response. I can see that you might not notice a change in overall horsepower since the Tundra is a…

Five Stars: Air Filter

Better gas mileage is a big plus in the 5.7 Tundra. Skip the expensive tricks of blowing cold air. The car already has one, it just needs to breathe better. On Toyota vehicles, remove the secondary filter and order a rubber O-ring to replace the wire mesh on the air hose to the throttle body. The whistle comes from the "if you don't like it" screen. Throttle body gaskets aren't effective, add a looser exhaust "I recommend Gibson as I love it" and there it is. An engine that can feed air and…

K&N for my family!

I have a 2012 Toyota Sequioa and it's time to change the filter. I figured why not have one like I used to have on my sports cars. So the installation was easy, but then I noticed the infamous mesh everyone is talking about on the top filter box. I've never seen this on a car and it seems to restrict airflow to the engine even more? Why was it done, mpg, EPA stuff? White knows, but I threw it in the trash. I have no whistle or almost no sound (just a little on WOT). This grille can be carefully

Good with minor addition

This product works like a regular K&N filter - it saves you money on filters in the long run and (in my experience) slightly increases mileage and improves throttle response. However, unlike all the other K&Ns I've used, installing this unit definitely resulted in the whistling noise that others have been talking about at around 2000 rpm. It's not loud enough to drown out the radio or similar, but when the radio is off you're definitely there (especially with the windows open). Fortunately, the

Cons
  • Great price

Pros: Great filter with excellent airflow to the engine. Lasts longer than a car with regular cleaning and oil spraying so saves you money in the long run. Disadvantages: This is not a disadvantage for this filter. Negative for Toyota: Fitting this filter reveals a fault in the Toyota 5.7 liter engine where the very high pitched sound is produced by the metal mesh behind the throttle body. The OEM filter masks this noise (probably due to its density and airflow limitation). To fix this, remove…
