This is a sanding sponge, use it for its intended purpose

I don't know what all these complaints are about. I love these sponges and have ordered several. People who complain about the sponge breaking or not working properly are most likely not using it for its intended purpose. This is not intended to replace a mechanical grinder. This is intended for small projects. Be smart and this product will work wonders.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • There are problems

Terrible quality. Start falling apart fast!

A few years ago I bought a similar product and I still use it. I bought these 3 meter blocks to have extra ones. Tried them filling holes in the basement. I used them half wet. After using them for a few days, I noticed that they kept falling apart after washing. I threw them away and never used them again. They didn't even produce a great finished product after use.

  • Few competitors

Fall apart too quickly.

I agree with some other users that the sanding crumbs fall off the blocks very quickly. I've used it to sand down a few primed doors to smooth out the primer before painting and it was good for a door before the edges of the block ran out of sand and the corners were rubbed down. I have used other 3M sanding pads and have not had this problem. But it's terrible. I will not buy them again and recommend finding other blocks.

Slight difference between medium and fine

I like sanding sponges because they conform to the shape of the material being sanded. And while they're advertised as medium and thin (presumably one side is medium and the other is thin), there really isn't much of a difference between the two. I want the middle side to be rougher and the thin side to be thinner. They worked well enough for my immediate needs, but I'll probably look for a different brand for my next one.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other sanding tools

Abrasive sponges are great when you want to reach spots in a tree that .

Sanding sponges are great for sanding areas in wood that an electric sander can't reach. They were great for removing the last bits of paint after stripping. Don't expect them to replace a good stripper. Sponges get sticky and then you've wasted a good sponge. These sponges did the job they were made for. I gave them four because honestly the ones I buy from the big store work better.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Expensive

Great product for multiple uses!

These sponges are very easy to use. They are well made from quality materials. The sponge is durable and feels good in the hand. It penetrates well into the edges of wooden products. It's a lot easier than using sandpaper and a sanding block. Doesn't clog like regular sandpaper. In addition to woodworking, I have also used them as a foot/heel file. It also does an excellent job when filing and polishing the nails. It's very easy to clean. A quick rinse under water and it looks and feels like…

Pros
  • Rinse and reuse
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Much better than sandpaper

I use this product for crafting, scrapbooking, small furniture repairs and many other hobbies. This is a very good sponge with different thickness sandpaper. It's easy to hold and won't crumble like sandpaper. There seems to be a lot less dust. I keep one in my tool box, in my craft drawer by my desk, and with my scrapbooking supplies. It's really handy for sanding cardboard. (it's cardboard with a different color in the middle of the cardboard piece) I've been using this product for years and…

Pros
  • Universal Abrasive Sponge
Cons
  • Vanish

> I HAVE TO BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS

LONGER: I read the bad reviews and thought they were overkill. It's 3M, right? Always high quality, right? Well, not in this case. CONS > A 3-pack sounds economical, but it's not. A 3M Pro scouring pad (e.g. two 3M Pro Grade Dual Angle scouring pads - one fine and one medium) will last longer than 3 of those "cheap" pads and will cut faster and be more comfortable to work with. I bought 2 packs of 3M Pro Medium Sanding Pads at Home Depot for $5.97 ($3 each). moderately rough surface. &gt…
