Purchased to vent the dryer through cinder blocks and brick walls. I borrowed a Makita 1/2" cordless hammer drill from a friend. I didn't use the hammer feature. I screwed a board into the brick wall with a 4-1/4" hole to use as a guide initially to use. This is not a pilot drill for it. It only took a few minutes to get through. Let the drill do its job. Very happy with the results.
