Excellent quality. for dogs

Once assembled this makes a great pet cage. The dog is open enough to look out and the closed doors ensure he doesn't even bother to push them. The assembly alone was a task that took about 90 minutes as I reattached a section without tracing the front and back from above. I have enjoyed using it for 2000 miles of travel. It weighs 100lbs which makes it strong and safe but not easy for woman to take off!

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other pickaxes

Don't waste your money

I bought this box 4 months ago and in that time it has practically fallen apart. The divider really rattled so much that the top screw bent the metal and came loose. Today all the insert screws came out and the center panel just fell off while my dogs were in the crate. Almost $1500 and I think either the welder will fix it or throw it away and look for a new crate system. Don't waste money.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No instructions

The best car box for dogs.

This is the best dog carrier we've seen. We drive over 30,000 miles a year without dogs. They are always in drawers or seat belts. So we've seen that this premium crash-tested container is a good investment. It's a bit difficult for me to assemble because the instructions come with drawings and it's set up for installation, but just a fantastic product. The only thing I wished for was the plastic floor. Expensive but worth the money. Large size fits our 2015 Toyota RAV-4 perfectly.

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Zero

Good for car and dogs

I have 2 dogs (a 35lb keeshond and a border collie puppy) and they need a safer way to get around. 2 full size boxes didn't fit in my old car, I had to take more. It wasn't difficult to assemble the kennel. Took about an hour and went smoothly. (Disclaimer: we're 2 engineers, so take this with a grain of salt.) There was some bent metal (mostly protrusions), but it wasn't hard to bend back since the material hadn't passed the elongation point. Would buy this kennel again anytime.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Assembly is difficult and the end product is not worth the price.

On the recommendation of a friend, we chose the VarioCage. If the rest of the cage was designed the same way as the door, that would be highly commendable. However, the rest of the cage is extremely difficult to assemble and the build quality is extremely poor. The protrusions and their associated parts must be aligned, and the adjustable bars are poorly designed for those cages used at the extreme limits of their "adjustability". Once completed, its appearance will be "unfinished". The edges…

Pros
  • Certified

  • Very expensive

Variocage and assembly

I read reviews that said how difficult the assembly was. Well, I assembled it myself in just over an hour. If I had an assistant to hold, it would take about 45 minutes. The briefing wasn't bad, I've certainly seen worse. The instructions proved to be more useful to me than the video on YouTube on a rare occasion. The design feels solid and we put a lot of thought into keeping it from rattling. I'll update this after putting it in my car and driving around for a bit. There were a few bent…

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Works

Crash tested, worth a HUGE hassle and hassle for us

We did our research and knew it was a huge risk in terms of cost, assembly and hassle. However, we felt this would meet our needs with the best option available - if it works. But when a lot of assembly work turned out to be too much for our skill and throughput, we had to give it back too. That's why we waited for it to be available with Amazon as seller and shipper, not 4x4 (US distributor) as seller and Amazon as shipper. We had no interest in "justifying" ourselves or demanding a refund…

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Upgradable
