Ideal for car work.

I need to measure the power consumption of a DC amplifier for my auto mechanic job. This tool makes my job easier as I can now find the wire/mesh that is causing the pulling. Great product at a great price!

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Good but not great

Excellent device for measuring current

I bought this primarily to measure DC current in the car and it seems to get by with that. Not sure how well the other functions work, except for the voltmeter, which seemed fine. Seems pretty solid to me. It looks like the rubber boot needs to be removed to replace the battery - the included instructions aren't accurate when it comes to describing the fault. I love that it comes with a nice little case.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Upgradable

You get what you pay for

I bought this meter specifically for the low dc amp function. And as far as I can tell, it works. I have yet to test it on a better gauge to see if they read the same thing. As for the quality. It s cheap. Super cheap. The dial freezes and gets stuck when rotating. The battery is awkward to install so I hope it lasts a long time. All in all you get what you pay for. Update 12/10/18 After 2 months of use, the continuity feature stopped working.

Pros
  • Nicely
Cons
  • Volume

Not useful for automotive applications when you need to measure.

useless for automotive applications when you need to measure into the 10 milliamp range. The ES685 specs say it will only read 10 milliamps. The first one I got after zeroing it fluctuated as much as 90 milliamps before it was clamped in the circuit, and then after it was removed from the circuit the device continued to give incorrect readings. Returned product under warranty and the new device is still unusable with incorrect readings. Spend the extra cash on a decent block!

  • Good thing
Cons

I like it. Best in Multimeters and Analyzers

I felt compelled to write this review after reading a bad review from another friend. I love this tool. I bought it and use it for one purpose only, as an inductive DC ammeter. I run an auto repair shop and use this instrument daily to measure parasitic currents. It's really comfortable and as accurate as you can get in this price range. I have never used its DMM capabilities and have never connected lines to it. The average consumer might want to heed the advice of other reviewers if they…

Pros
  • New to my collection

Too expensive for useless features

This DMM is feature rich, sensitive, and offers autoranging. Unfortunately, some of these features are too limited to be useful. Take frequency and duty cycle modes for example. They can only work with 10 volts or less. This alone rendered these functions unusable for me. I need both to work at 10 volts and above, not the other way around. On the front panel, the plastic is as thin as paper. Good luck surviving the harsh conditions! Your finger can poke right through. Changing the battery…

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • No performance
