🔒 ABUS Bordo Lite 6050 Folding Bike Lock with Chain Review

light, attractive. Really comfortable. Unfortunately I would like ABUS to send more keys (e.g. more than 2) but due to the design and weight I don't think there is a better lock.

The lock is ok, although a bit heavier than expected, it is clearly used. The scratches on the lock and the packaging had been torn open and resealed. Should not be advertised as new.

especially in white the lock looks very shaky i was a bit concerned about the actual security my friend told me that he read that this lock is not safe in the abus foldable series somewhere. I didn't read the article myself, but I was concerned. I ended up with good old kryptonite.

Half the weight of a padlock. Capable of spanning larger bars than U-Lock. The drinking bottle holder does not rattle. The handlebar slides through holes in my helmet so I can attach it to my bike. This is a great alternative to a bulky U-lock or easy to cut cables or chains. It easily attaches to your frame with sturdy Velcro straps. It took longer to get it out of the box than it did to attach it to my frame, put the key on the key ring and walk out the door. Works great as intended. Not too heavy, very compact size when folded. Pretty simple and easy to use. Will it deter a determined thief? Of course not. Is it solid steel? I was shocked to learn online that the shanks for this lock are not solid steel. Instead, they are made of steel wire cast into plastic rods. For this reason I cannot recommend this lock. ***UPDATE 10/30/2013*** I contacted Abus USA due to my disappointment that this lock is not made of solid steel bars. This product is safer and more secure than a regular cable lock and looks freaking cooler! ABUS has several similar models, but this was a good combination of price, security, and length. These different models are also available in different lengths. Of course it's important to get around my frame, my rear wheel and anything I'm blocking.
