Four stars: network adapter

A little clunky, but my daughter's laptop can connect to the wifi again! Significantly cheaper than a new laptop. Hooray!

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

Windows 7, I use Dlink USB.

Windows 7 I was using WiFi Dlink USB which gave me about 30Mbps and 24Mbps. This thing should be rated a lot higher, but I get almost exactly half that with a long one. I hope I can handle the situation, but all you have to do is plug and install the driver and you're good to go.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Hard to say

Perfect! on network adapter

This is the second one I bought. Wanted to give my desktop and laptop dual band capabilities (Win 7 64-bit). Both work like a charm with no issues. As another reviewer said, it's best to first download the latest driver from StarTech's website, then plug it in and get started. I haven't even tried the CD that came with it.

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • It's hard to remember but it was

As an IT manager, I've found time and time again that StarTech accessories pay off. I replaced the old WiFi card on my laptop with this one and increased it from 1-3MB to almost 50MB (the limit of our internet bandwidth, NOT the WiFi adapter). This little guy connects at about 250 Mbps over a distance of about 40 feet. Well!

Pros
  • Useful beyond their intended purpose
Cons
  • Out of fashion

solved my problem best networking products

I have a Lenovo Thnkserver Tower and it's a great computer except the built in wifi chip stopped working and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to work again. The only solution I could think of was a nice dual band USB 3.0 device since this device has six USB 3.0 ports and I have a dual frequency router. That's pretty much as fast as I need as my router also supports the latest 802:11AC protocol.

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • Some flaws

Works fantastic! the best in computers and accessories

Awesome wireless adapter. Win 8.1 immediately installed the Realtec drivers but they didn't work for this particular model and I got 45Mbps. I went to the Startech website and downloaded the drivers there and after installing and a quick reboot of the PC I got it I easily 54.5 MBit on a line that should only deliver 50 MBit. No frills, great work! StarTech makes reliable devices at a reasonable price, and this is no exception.

Pros
  • Add dual-band Wireless-AC to your desktop or laptop via USB 3.0
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for seniors

Fits MacBook Air El Capitan, great customer service

StarTech provides excellent customer service and technical support. I bought this to replace a dead Wi-Fi card in a MacBook Air. It works with El Capitan by downloading drivers from the StarTech website (you'll need another computer with internet access and a flash drive to transfer it, or an ethernet connection if like me you're using a computer without a CD drive ). and then it adds an icon to the top bar to replace the Mac's original internal Wi-Fi. Simple, and now I have fast internet…

Pros
  • USB Wireless-AC 2.4GHz / 5GHz
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I would recommend. on Computers & Accessories

Update: Because it sticks out so far it got stuck and broke. I won't buy longer. Switched to a small one. The item arrived very quickly and in its original packaging, safely stowed with instructions and a CD. I didn't use the hard drive, I downloaded the device manager from the website. Then I tried to install and configure it and couldn't. In itself it didn't work. It's not plug and play. There was no help window to configure it. After hours of frustration, I contacted their support team. It…
