Works great - no bracket replacement needed!

I knew I might need a new bracket. However, on my 2000 Astro, this cable plugged right into the old bracket and was easy to install. After installation it works great.

Pros
  • Ensures GM quality, reliability and durability OE
Cons
  • Negative present

good product though. for shifter cables

This cable was different from mine so I took it to the dealer. I was told I have the correct part but the bracket holding it has been replaced. I noticed that ACDelco discontinued the mount. It took me 3 weeks to find the braces and it cost me $23. The original clip was only $3.

I'm sure this product works fine but I've had several of these vehicles from 1996-1998 and none of them came with this cable so I'm not sure what replaces it. Buyers beware, you may need a cable part number ending in 733420 instead. But I guess engineers don't think like…

Bracket solution required

Some reviews mention that a new bracket is required on the gearbox to use this cable on some Astro/Safari vans. For some reason GM changed the bracket to a smaller one (so the transmission end of this cable is smaller than the one on the car) and then stopped making the new bracket part. After some searching I found a replacement part from Sonnax that works with a little modification. The Sonnax part number is 34913-01. I tried bolting it to the holes in the bracket but I couldn't get the…
