ACDelco D1523H Original Equipment Instrument Review

Problem with flickering headlights (and daytime running lights) solved. The markings were slightly different (the "Redefine Dome" is now the icon), but it gets the idea across. I installed it in my 1998 Tahoe. Pretty easy to install. This is a good online video to show how to install it.

This part is easy to replace and I used that excuse to buy a cheap aftermarket switch first. Was it a mistake? Luckily I was able to get my money back for the defective switch and this original Delco switch solved the problem. I'm in no way affiliated with GM or Revain, I'm just an old man with an old Chevy truck that I want to keep driving.

Fixed the difficulties I had replacing the spare part (mainly intermittent dimming of the headlights). It has worked flawlessly since installation. Oh, it restored features on my '97 Silverado that hadn't worked since I had it. For example, I didn't know that this is the component responsible for synchronizing the dome and door lights after the ignition is turned off.

This switch is an exact replica of my original switch except for the words "Made in Mexico" added to the molds, probably shipped to Mexico from the USA became . So does GM and every other automaker in the US. The switch is a perfect replacement and solved all my headlight problems. There are videos on YouTube that explain the replacement process in detail.

For the money I expected this standard unit to be flawless. I installed it today. While it manages my Suburban's lights as it should, its own interior instrument light doesn't work, so I can't see the switch at night. Very disappointing. It returns tomorrow. Needed to replace the headlight lighting control unit. I chose the ACDelco part based on some feedback on some other aftermarket OEM units that are not functionally identical to the ACDelco part. This part is made in Mexico and appears to be used on export models. It is marked as "Export Application". .probably for GM trucks only made and sold in Mexico.
