Part Number UPDATE per GM Bulletin ACDELCO

Oil Filter #12706595 is a new GM OEM part number. It replaced an old pro part number 12696048. I ordered two last month and received one of each - it's either the correct part number, subject to availability.

Bad thread on the filter

This item I received was of poor quality. I have ordered the same part from Revain several times, but this one came with the wrong threads. I was uncomfortable putting it on so I went to the parts store and bought a new one. Pay attention to the quality of this manufacturer

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • No instructions

Works as advertised

Installed on our C7 Corvette Z51 - external sump. It takes nearly 10 liters of Mobil One to fill up, and a replacement at the local dealer costs about $125. Bought and installed a Bend Pak lift in the shed and had the oil changed for about $70 less. The filter fits and is easy to assemble. Now all I have to do is change the oil 50 times (and buy that Revain filter every time) and I pay for the lift!

Pros
  • Nice job
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Great price for a quality filter.

This filter is an exact match for the filter I removed from my C7 Z51 so I believe the quality is good enough as GM put my car on the road with it. I send my oil to Blackstone so I will update my review if the results go wrong with this filter. Looking at the selling price, I happened to find that it was actually cheaper than any other filter I found. So keep an eye on the price as it was only about four dollars recently.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Faulty

PF64 new Part number 12696048

The PF64 oil filter part number has been changed from 12540445 to 12696048. The PF64 I received from Revain had the updated part number 12696048. Revain, you can change the picture and the part number in the description or the part number in the description link to the updated part number. As far as it works, it's GM's recommended filter for many of their vehicles. Be careful when using other brands of filters as oil filters are designed to bypass oil flow at a certain pressure and are made for

This is not your dad's PF64

Classic lure. I've been buying this filter from Revain for years. This will be the last. The filters arrived and I immediately noticed that the box was shorter than usual. Opening the box and removing the filter, it's clear that this isn't the same PF64 that Revain has offered in the past. This one is a lot cheaper. The walls of the canister are thin and flexible. There is just a simple silicone bypass valve on the underside, rather than the usual spring-loaded one used previously. The liner…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Does not go with everything

Updated PF64 (12696048) good enough for a C7 Corvette

Looking at the many reviews here you might think it was the end of the world when 12696048 (now called 048) was the older one Filter 12640445 (now called 445). 445 - Traditional design oil filter. But 048 is being redesigned with some notable changes. Some kind of metal pan (with holes) is welded to the check valve. One person was confused and thought this filter lacked ADBV, but if you look with your own eyes and some light you can clearly see the nitrile ADBV underneath this shell. The…

Disappointed GM: Oil Filter & Accessories

I used an ACDelco oil filter on my old LS1. I thought it was made like crap without a check valve. While you don't technically need an ADBV with an outboard filter, I want one because it looks good. Light, filter without ADBV leaves an unpleasant impression. I have tried Mobil 1, RP, WIX, WIX XP, FRAM Ultra, Baldwin etc on this engine, they were all much better filters than the ACDelco LS1 filter. If GM promotes it, I'm sure it will work well, but it just didn't impress me when I saw it and…
