10/10 notebooks on traditional notebooks

Bought for use at work/home because I was tired of surfing the internet with my phone and wow! It's a $200 netbook pretending to be an ultrabook. Remote Desktop is amazingly fast, typically hitting 10 fps over local WiFi and 3-4 fps over the Internet. It works with proxies and VPNs, the solid-state storage is user-upgradable, the battery lasts about 7 hours when not watching video, the screen is perfect for watching a movie alone or with another person, and everything just works. There was a…

Here's the winner - Chromebook is the internet user's best friend

I can't think of a better computer buy. If you use your computer to surf the web, check email, update Facebook, or do any other online activity, get a Chromebook. A little background: I'm an IT Analyst at a large utility company and have been working with and fixing computers for almost 20 years. I never buy new desktops, but I've bought several laptops for portability. I love this little powerhouse, it boots up in less than 5 seconds says seven but I've never seen it take that "long". Within 5

Enough for what I need

I bought this unit to replace an aging tablet and a broken MacBook Pro. I wanted something that I would use almost exclusively for quick online tasks or surfing while watching TV. It really fits the bill. The boot times with SSD and Chrome OS are sensational. I used to be afraid to use the computer for quick, simple tasks, but now I just pull it out of my Acer. There are some elements to get used to. I'm having issues with Citrix because my company doesn't have the latest and greatest version…

DO NOT BUY THIS FIXED. BUY NEW!

Be careful when you buy this from Acer Outlet. I bought the 32GB version and on day 32 upon waking from sleep I noticed white bars on my screen when the display was open. The warranty process started the 1st week of July 2014. Contacted the Acer Outlet warranty department who originally wanted me to send them a video BEFORE the shipping label. I sent them a video after I received the shipping label and when I got hold of it, of course I sent it to UPS after the powerwash. Got KB back with the…

  • Hard to say

As a former MacBook Pro and Windows Laptop user I was very skeptical about the switch at first. Over 26 months later and I really like this little Chromebook. It still works and I paid about 1/10th the price of my wife's fancy MacBook Pro. My mouse gets stuck about twice a year and when that happens I just reboot and it's like rain. The browser also crashes, maybe once a month or so, and usually requires a restart again (refresh button + power button). Restarting this thing seriously takes 10…

Is a Chromebook right for you? - Probably

This is a great machine for internet access, email and document creation via Google apps. If that's all you do, this could be a great option for you. I believe this is all that more than half of the population needs, but there are limitations. Here is my list of pros and cons. Cons: 1. You cannot run Microsoft Office or other PC software. This is the key hover for Chromebook. If you need PC specific software, you need PC.2. You cannot connect directly to a printer3. Using it offline (without an
