Acer Predator XB271HU Bmiprz: 2560x1440 WQHD with Built-in Speakers and HD Clarity Review

Update 2/17/18: I found a dead pixel that I missed. I will trade this for another. Fingers crossed. The Predator 1440p 27" IPS is an amazing monitor! I'm not a monitor expert at all. In fact I just bought another monitor for gaming and it was a much cheaper $200 monitor that replaced this one. My previous monitor was a 1ms 60hz 1080p and did what it was very good at for its time. I did a lot of research on how to go to 1440p and what does response time, refresh rate and TN mean compared to IPS.

So I switched from a BenQ 1080p 1ms monitor at 30fps to this IPS monster, which is currently being outperformed by the latest model's little brother. For those who constantly play and edit, these monitors are ideal. The massive 27-inch display with added G-Sync and IPS makes every frame incredibly smooth. 144Hz really stands out, I bought about 3 of these. I highly recommend it for intense gaming or editing! The only negative about them is the terrible built-in speakers, but most of you are probably using headsets or external speakers connected to your PC or TV.

The size, resolution, refresh rate and color quality of these monitors are really great (I bought two of them). But I have two complaints about the monitors. The biggest problem is that the colors are not displayed the same on both monitors. Extending the same "standard" white screen to both monitors, and the color will be slightly different on different monitors. Supposedly a new monitor, I strongly doubt that. No power, not even signs of power. I'm coming back for someone else. I have a 1080p version of the same monitor and it's great, but I want to upgrade as I have a 2080 Super update - have a spare and it's great! I bought this monitor to replace a 27 inch Samsung CHG70 monitor which after two years of heavy use started displaying weird iridescent pixels. I was looking to add a third monitor and recently upgraded my GPU to an Nvidia GTX 3070ti. Since I've been using an Acer monitor for a long time, I bought this Acer Predator. WOW! What a difference to my other two monitors (both 27" Acer 1080p). The colors are so vibrant and the blacks are so deep. Pros: This monitor is good for general use. The picture is clear, IPS looks good. The games look ok. No dead pixels. Cons: No HDR and the 4ms refresh obviously shows ghosting when working with text, scrolling through websites, or mousing over text in a game. pay attention to small details.

I bought a 27 inch MSI monitor about 7 months ago and this piece of junk is dead warranty expired BOOO. My Predator is superior in every way, very happy with it and even comes with a WOW guarantee. I might even buy a second one. 👍👍👍

I bought it in 2019 when it was around $500. Thought it was a little pricey but looking at it now at only $280 it seems insanely cheap for such a good monitor. Everything looks great with the rtx 3070ti GPU. 0 dead pixels, never had a problem with it.

I bought it for the X series and it can't take 120 frames because it doesn't have an HDMI 2.1 port. Otherwise, this is a nice solid monitor.
