This is a version of the amino acid Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL that is more efficiently absorbed by the body than the pure version of L-Carnitine and is not must be consumed with meals. The vegetarian version of the capsule is a good alternative. My only suggestion is to increase the capsule size to 1000mg to make it easier to get the typical recommended dose of 2000mg.

I am comparing to Jarrow's 500mg ALCAR - I can always say I've taken it, it works - this brand is no bargain, it was a total one waste of money. Doesn't work (I gave it a half shake to be honest, hoping in vain for any sign of authenticity). Possibly inconsistencies in production, suggesting someone else had better luck. When I read that it is made in China, I am amazed. As long as it's ineffective it's just money lost, experience gained, worse things can happen. Emtor warning!

Not sure if I received a "bad batch" or if this is normal for this company, but it arrived on time; However, upon opening the bag, I encountered an awkward "chemical"/vinegar? kind of smell. Looking inside the product I noticed SEVERAL open/cracked capsules. some with multiple layers of gelatin on top and powder on the inside of the pouch. Terrible packaging and a very unwelcome look to try and put in my body. even if I decide to search my bag and find an intact pod. I will not order anymore.
