Door Latch to Fit VW New Beetle Convertible at an Affordable Price

I installed this latch on a new 2006 Beetle Convertible. It worked well. It annoys me that the product photos do not match what was sent. The differences were small but still there. In this case it didn't matter. Update: FYI, the latch doesn't behave well with the alarm system installed by my dealer (Karr). When I open the door with the button on the key fob, everything works. But when I open the door with the key, the alarm goes off. I usually open the door with a key fob so I don't loseโ€ฆ

item looks identical and fits well as the old one. This solved my problem but when I closed the door it wouldn't open. I triple checked the cables prior to installation and could physically hear the locking mechanism moving in the latch which was very odd. Everything is hooked up properly and neither the inside nor outside handle opens the door, but you can feel the handle pulling on the cable. When dismantling the door panel in the car, we saw that the cable is fine and moves the lever on theโ€ฆ

Great item at a great price! Be patient, take your time!

This is a lengthy and tedious process and requires a special tool called the M8 Triple Square to remove the actual screws holding the door module in place. You'll also need a larger Phillips screwdriver, flat head, Torx T25 relatively long/thin, Torx T35 to remove the window glass and motor, and you'll probably want to buy new clips to trim the fairing. They will most likely break, but they are easy to replace. You need to be careful while working and carefully disconnect/reconnect everythingโ€ฆ
