good design and build, average signal strength

This product appears to be well made. I like how the antenna is mounted on the side instead of the back of the USB dongle. It was a smooth install on Windows 10. I plugged it into the USB port on the back of my desktop, turned on the computer, and then let Windows 10 detect the hardware and install it automatically. I choose my network and enter the password and tada! I am connected. The only downside I noticed is that my Wi-Fi signal strength was about half and not full signal, but it didn't…

Worked well for a while, then became a nightmare

It was easy to install and set up. The month went well. After that, he began to cut ties more and more often. Every time I turn on the computer, I spend about twenty minutes trying to get it to connect, berate it, and then hold my breath each time I click a link, hoping it still works. Often this is not the case. Lately I've noticed that if I pick it up a bit while it's plugged into the USB port, it reconnects, so I think the USB port is just worn out, which is why it keeps reconnecting…

  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Very slow network products

It's not nearly as fast as it should be. It offers the same speed as the USB adapter it was intended to replace. I bought it about 13 years ago. I get about 150-200Mbps with my laptop with built-in WiFi, with this adapter on my desktop I got about 5-10Mbps. Both speed tests were conducted in the same location in our home, about 15 feet from my router, with no walls in the way. Very poor results compared to what is advertised, especially since other people seem to be seeing slightly faster…

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

It took forever to figure out the installation and I'm a techie. I ended up having to copy the entire CD to the Windows folder and manually check for installation, then it took 7 attempts to install and after that I had to go to the manufacturer's website to update the latest drivers because the automatic update has not been completed. It would say that several computers were timing out so be prepared, without the update I was downloading about 1 megabyte per second. The product itself does not

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Fixed: 2018 $urface Pro poor Wi-Fi

2018 Surface Pro with Marvell AVASTAR WiFi integrated - really mediocre and weak performance that didn't work well even with excellent WiFi. Video quality freezes or drops out, websites load as fast as a dial-up connection, and downloads seem like it's been six years. (In Chrome, Apps and Edge.) This EUDP wireless USB adapter solved this problem. You will be given a Realtek RTL8811AU Wireless LAN 802.11ac for which you can either download the driver (small instruction CD or go to the website)…

  • Best in its niche

Works great for our laptops - use 5.0GHz!

This adapter doesn't really change your laptop's internet speed when you use it with your router's 2.4GHz band. However, it WILL increase significantly when using the 5.0 GHz band. We pay for the speed of 200 Gbps through our provider. My desktop reaches speeds of 180 to 260 Gb/s on an Ethernet network. When testing Wi-Fi speeds on three different Lenovo laptops in our house, each laptop showed around 50-52Mbps in the 2.4GHz band. However, in the 5.0 GHz band, every laptop ran at speeds from…
