Terrible volume control but otherwise ok

This is a great idea for adding sound to any PC and having all the media controls, audio and microphone jacks and a few extra USB ports. But the volume control is terrible. It's very difficult to spin, makes a grating noise loud enough to be picked up by a microphone, and its low profile makes it difficult to grip with fingers. Otherwise it works as advertised.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Very good for the price

Pretty decent little unit. It's basically the same as advertised, but don't expect anything durable or super tall for the price. All USB ports are USB 2, not 3. That's fine for my purposes as I only plug in the mouse and controller buttons there. The volume control doesn't feel digital, which is actually a good thing. Basically, the blue lights that show the volume level just fade out when you turn the volume down and appear when you turn it up. Really a classic method. The fact that it offers…

analog volume control, not USB

This is a nice external audio device with lots of useful features, but it didn't turn out to be exactly what I was looking for. I originally bought a USB volume controller, but it caught my eye because it had 3 USB ports, a mic input, and a pause button. The downside, however, is that the volume slider only controls the volume of the headphones and not the overall volume of the sound in the system. Also, the volume knob is so tight that it's difficult to turn with one hand. So I will buy…

Works great on Linux - just plug and play

I connected this sound card to my computer with Lubuntu/Ubuntu 18.10 (Linux Kernel v4.18.0) and the sound card was automatically detected. All I had to do was set the device as the default audio device (i.e. right click on the tray mixer). I haven't tried any of the buttons, but the volume control works well. If you type lsusb at the command prompt, this device will show up as ID 0c76:1695 JMTek, LLC.

Ideal for home office use

Definitely geared towards gaming, but a great way to add a hardware mute button and volume control to your home office. I wish the buttons were labeled a bit more clearly for quick access, although that's more of a design flaw. Also works as a USB hub for audio functions. I recommend it.

  • Electronics
Cons
  • No paint required
