Sturdy stand and great value

I bought this stand specifically for use in my small home studio in the garage to hold a medium sized softbox that was too big for my standard straight stand, to keep them safe. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much for the price, but the stand is actually pretty solid, as evidenced by its weight - significantly heavier than any of my other stands. The versatility of a rod reflector should not be overestimated. I can direct light to positions and angles that just weren't possible before…

I'm not disappointed at all. This is a decent budget option.

I've needed a cheap C stand for a long time because it came with an arrow. I should have taken more as the price has gone up since then. The C stand itself is sturdy. The materials look cheap. The arrow arm feels fragile, like too much weight could bend it. Gobo heads look cheap. They don't have springs to loosen to adjust and I'm afraid of tearing the threads. However, for the price I got and the stand itself, it's a steal! I'm very happy with it despite my criticism, but you get what you pay…

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Faulty

The base seems solid enough as does the stand. Handles (I use the term loose) work better as paperweights. Their smooth inner surface makes them virtually incapable of gripping the hand tightly enough to prevent twisting/rotating during use. If you use Blitz without a modifier or a wrench, they might have a chance to hold on. I have to spend almost half the cost of this stand on another brand of attachments before I can use it. Do not purchase this product as it is currently in production…

Great stand!

One I received as a test run to replace the faint black ones that often come with lights or reflectors that photographers need. I was honestly amazed. This is my first stand I bought as an upgrade and it is the difference between day and night. I don't have access to the insanely expensive ones to compare so can't comment on these coasters. But what I can say is I'll be back for two more of them. After reading the comments, some have genuine complaints, but I think most are trying to justify…

Save best with Booms & Stands

I was very excited when the C stand came out. But after assembling everything and installing the flash and softbox on the handle. No matter how I had it, it still wouldn't support its weight on the handle. When I took it apart to see what was going on, I noticed that the inside of the gobo handle was completely smooth. That means it won't snag on a 40-inch extension. I was going to send it back but I needed it for the weekend so I took a dremel tool and tried to clean it and so far it's…

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

The riser design is imperfect.

WARNING: DO NOT buy this if you are mounting studio equipment on the end of the pole, the main vertical column is simply not designed to support any more weight than a reflector or AC flash without a modifier. It's not a "heavyweight" stand for studio use, and the $109 price cuts through in the cut corners. I will point out the three main disadvantages. READ NUMBER #3 if you read any of my reviews. This is a breach of the deal. 1.) There are tricky shims on the crank heads and some slippage…
