For small pools only.

Works well with its main function - a heating mat. This is very low power, only 7-8 watts on my Killawatt. But I think there are a few details to consider here. First, it's designed for a 20-gram tank. Let me tell you that this is not enough. Our kids have some little bearded lizards and they fight over those warm spots. Probably normal only up to a tank of 10g. Secondly, this is exactly the same technique as in horticulture. Find a heat mat and buy it in the "garden" rather than the "home"…

Don't put hermit crabs under the aquarium!

Bought for 20 gallons of hermit crab habitat. Instead of using the heater under the tank I placed it on the outer rear window far left above the substrate. When using this on hermit crabs, they prefer the warm and cool side of their substrate, so it's best to place the heater just above the substrate line all the way to one side or the other. I received a defective device and then realized that the return policy was not valid!

I do not recommend this product or the seller David'sMart. I'm sure others have had better luck with the product. Long story, I bought this for my daughter's hermit crab. The pillow itself arrived in good condition and looked high quality. I bought it instead of other brands due to the stronger connection of the power cord with the contact pad.
