The pulley is not well designed.

The concept of this product is good, but the technique needs work. The rope does not stay on the pulley and gets pinched between the pulley and the housing, preventing the rope from moving with the pipe. The rope was badly worn and snapped during use. We were very lucky that this did not result in any damage to the tuber.

Too small to attach to our pontoon boat!

This towline does NOT fit our pontoon boat! The clamp wasn't big enough to close when attached to our boat's eyebolts, now it's 2019, maybe the eyebolts are bigger than older boats? But this one has to be sent back. I ended up having to go to the store (ooh!) and found pretty much the same thing BUT it's a much thicker and stronger tow line with marine grade carabiners that match our eyebolts perfectly. Therefore, first measure the thickness of the ring bolts; If they are thicker than 1/2 inchโ€ฆ

Very good Product fits lines

Was waiting for a review before using it for the first time. Good product. It cleans the outboard motor and rotates back and forth as intended. This will prevent the rope from making sharp jerks when turning and will help keep you away from the motor. Highly recommended. I read some reviews that the boat mount clips were too small. I suppose this is a problem if you have very thick stern loops on your boat. On my boat (Lund) my hinges are a normal size (about the thickness of a pencil) and theโ€ฆ

Incredibly cheap

I rarely write negative reviews about Revain, but this is definitely an exception. I didn't even bother opening the package when I discovered the rope was essentially hollow inside (see the thickness of the rope between my fingers in the 1st photo). I was able to compress the rope down to 1/8" and I believe that will make it have very little power. Also if you look at the 2nd picture the quick connect only accepts very thin ropes (like this one). I can can't believe someone would make something

Quality control issues

I had one of these for years and it worked fine until the pulley failed so I ordered another. Although the hooks appear to be the same, one of them doesn't open wide enough to hook onto the stern eyelet at the back of the boat! The other barely opens wide enough. I sent it back and had the same problem when exchanging it. The stern eyes on the back of my boat are standard - the problem is whoever makes these hooks doesn't get them right anymore and checks them before they leave the factory. Iโ€ฆ

I thought maybe the other reviewers just had it unusual.

I thought the other reviewers might just have an unusually large towing eye on the back when they said the galvanized hook wouldn't fit. Of course my little 18ft boat has a regular sized towing eye so I took a chance and ordered this harness. You were right, the galvanized carabiner that comes with the tow strap will not fit a standard tow eyelet. (see image 1) Made me think of the person who ordered this product. "Yeah, no need to test it on a real boat, just attach this inexpensive carabinerโ€ฆ

Cannot handle drivers

We bought it for towing and it broke within the first 20 minutes of use. The hooks were solid but the pulley area was a weak point. We had my daughter and nephew on the subway and as both are younger I'm 100% sure we didn't overload any part of our towing system. In fact, part of the reel fell apart, but hit the boat in the process. Creation of a security threat. The metal sides of the pulley were bent, the plastic wheel that the rope sits on was cracked and torn into many pieces. It seems toโ€ฆ
