Most functions are also very (hardware) hackable

that can be done. Add an antenna (extremely difficult but doable), place a (real) Wi-Fi hotspot, use it with Linux. I like it, range isn't that important since I use it to connect my friends to cafe chains, if they don't have an account I just host one. I should mention that adding an antenna post to You Tube doesn't work for this device, it's very difficult. This may include a real (e.g. wireless hotspot, not ad hoc or computer-to-computer connection, but it doesn't work) as a router to assign

Pros
  • USB 2.0
Cons
  • Almost everything is

Not as good as other brands

I used this adapter for my laptop as a previous reviewer mentioned, installation is easy and it connects to my local wireless network with no problems . The range is good too, I connected to 100ft with no issues, the signal stayed at 50%. The problem I'm having is that after a while my laptops are set to "standby", I've never turned them off completely and after waking them up from standby, the adapter again refused to connect to a wireless network to find, even if I unplugged the adapter andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Wireless up to 54Mbps
Cons
  • This is driving me crazy

They are so cheap and convenient that I have bought many of them!

Really handy device. For about $15 I can quickly connect any computer made in the last 6 or 7 years to a wireless router. As I write, I'm fixing my friend's daughter's laptop. She had over 200 trojans and three viruses, and her computer practically stopped. I had to erase the disk and boot into a new operating system. Since she lost her installation CDs and the built-in computer was damaged, I don't have drivers for the built-in wireless or ethernet adapter, so I couldn't even go online toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Compatible with all 802.11g and 802.11b devices
Cons
